NILFS is based on incremental checkpoints, which are set every few seconds. A checkpoint can be flagged as snapshot retroactively. Thus even files deleted by accident can be simply restored. That's a completely different concept. A concept that might be even more suitable for a single user desktop than the concept of Btrfs.
