Hi, if you're interested in helping with the Django non-relational project (native ORM support for cloud DBs) you should join this discussion group: http://groups.google.com/group/django-non-relational
This project should make cloud DB development much easier and make Django apps portable across different cloud and non-cloud platforms - which means more code reuse and no vendor lock-in. It's simpler than you might think, so don't be afraid to help. If you're unsatisfied with Django's current situation on App Engine you should help with fixing it. This could be your 20% project. For more information you should also look at the project wiki: http://bitbucket.org/wkornewald/django-nonrel-multidb/wiki/Home Another related project is to improve Django's instance startup times. This means modifying Django to load more of its modules lazily (e.g., just move imports into functions). Ask on the discussion group if you want to get started with this task.
