Hi Nitish,

Hindi-Punjabi seems to be a good pair for Apertium, but I'm surprised about
the name of your project and the timetable. Are you "adopting an unreleased
language pair"? If so, better use this expression; otherwise, please
clearly state in your proposal in what it differs from the standard
language pair adoption, and why it should differ. As far as I understand,
your proposal is just working on dictionaries and lexical selection,
without any transfer rules. Am I right?

On the timetable. As you say, 8000 words in the bidix are very few.
Moreover, as far I understand from your project, the Punjabi dictionary has
errors, so it has to be corrected, as well as the existing bidix. But you
are foreseeing just one week for adding "normal" word to be bidix and a
supplementary week for multiwords. My initial questions are:

1. From which sources will you get the words in the bidix? Will you type
them by hand? Are there free resources you may use? Which are they? How
many word/word pairs they have? How much reliable they are? How may words
you plan to reach in the bidix?

2. I don't know anything on Indo-Iranian languages, but: is really lexical
selection between these two closely related languages crucial to such
extend, that so many time should be devoted to this? Why not using most of
the time e.g. for transfer rules?

Best,
Hèctor
