How did you source the zip? from github?

Ansible is comprised of 3 repositories
https://github.com/ansible/ansible/
https://github.com/ansible/ansible-modules-core
https://github.com/ansible/ansible-modules-extras

However, I recommend you follow the installation instructions here 
- http://docs.ansible.com/intro_installation.html

It is best to use a distro package management or pip to install.  Failing 
that, the install instructions also contain reference to tarballs 
containing full release content.
