Who  The Apache Software Foundation (ASF): all-volunteer developers, stewards,
and incubators of nearly 150 Open Source projects and initiatives.

What  Version 6.0 release of Apache Wicket, the Open Source component-based
Java Web application framework in use at Symantec, Walmart, Netherlands
Internal Revenue Service, and more.

Why  Apache Wicket v6.0 is the latest version of the popular Java
component-oriented Web framework used by thousands of development shops around
the world, including an array of large and small organizations such as Symantec
Corporation, Walmart, Vegas.com, email provider GMX, and the Dutch Internal
Revenue Service. Providing an Open Source, component-oriented development model
for Web application development, Wicket eases the creation and maintenance of
complex Java Web applications; v6.0 enhances core functionality and offers many
new features, from OSGi compatibility to AJAX attributes to Big Data support.

"This release delivers a reinvigorated implementation of our client side API
that enables developers to integrate rich JavaScript libraries and components
with minimal effort. We have updated and broadened the capability and
flexibility of many existing features throughout the framework," said Martijn
Dashorst, Vice President of Apache Wicket.

Where  As with all Apache products, Apache Wicket is overseen by a
self-selected team of active contributors; a Project Management Committee (PMC)
guides the Project's day-to-day operations, including community development and
product releases. The Apache Wicket PMC has released a new Technical Fact Sheet
on Apache Wicket v6.0 at
https://blogs.apache.org/foundation/entry/apache_wicket_v6_0_0
