[AngularJS] Adding Compile to Directive Causes Methods From Template Not to Work

I simply add this code to my directive, it shouldn't do anything:

  compile: function(element, attributes){
        return {
            post: function(scope, element, attributes, controller, 
transcludeFn){
            }
}

However, once I add it, the methods I call from the template of the 
directive using ng-click="method()", that are defined in "link" on the 
scope no longer work.
I have to move them from link to the "post:" compile block.

Is this normal?
