While looking at the code of ngRepeat, this is the regEx responsible for the parsing: /^(?:([\$\w]+)|\(([\$\w]+)\s*,\s*([\$\w]+)\))$/ With me being an nocive on regEx, I can spot some whitespace checking that will cause your issue. I'm not sure how hard/easy it is to fix this regEx so your code would pass. If it's really important to you, you should file an issue.
