Sounds strange, are you speaking about the $stateProvider of the UI-router 
plugin?

I recently saw some code that used
$routeProvider
.status(...)
.status(...)

I cant find any documentation on this but I do see that .status() is actaully 
available.
Why would you use status over $routeProvider.when() ??
