Hello, I just started develloping for Android and I was wondering the following:
I'm a student Electrical Engineering and like tinkering with stuff, but im not an expert, I wanted to create an attachment for my HTC Desire running android 2.1 with buttons on it that i can use as a gamepadd for ie. emulators. Bascially, i want to create my own "hardware keyboard". Now i thought of doing this trough bleutooth, but DIY bleutooth modules are verry expensive and to complicated to work with for this kind of application. Old devices from 10 years ago had IR ports, but newer phones dont so thats not an option either. Now the only thing that remains is the USB connector on my phone. Is it possible to write an android program that reads from the usb connector on the phone and then translates that data into a "hardware keypress"?
