I'd like to call people's attention to a bug that is in need of some managing: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2117
It's a pretty run-of-the-mill bug asking that recording calls be implemented as a feature. Many of the people posting to the bug though seem to have gone insane, and something needs to be done, if only to keep the bug system tidy. My suggestion is to create a new bug for the same thing, make a comment saying something like "Closing so that a more reasoned discussion can ensue. Reopened as bug XXXX. Please keep the discussion there purely technical." And then in the new bug link back, and write a similar reminder. I've seen this done for similar bugs on other projects, and it has worked wonders. I'd do it myself, except I lack the power to do so. Here are some choice quotes so you know why I'm bringing this up. They range from the more benign... "I just can't understand why the google guys didn't make it possible. It's a phone god damn it... we have plenty of non-useful applications, but we don't have a regular call recorder!" "These Site is Dumb This Problem is Still Unresolved and None of Google Engineers have ever Replied to any of these Bugs" "I am pissed off about this inability mostly because the Google Android people don't seem to care or reply to our concerns." To the the crazy: "Well... guess what: my Droid is being exchanged for WM phone. Hey, Google: are you getting the message now ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "These Google People are Ash-oles. If they don't reply this Thread. I will load Porn Pictures every day in this Thread every day. Will Google now pay Attention to this ?????????" -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
