Update: I got this to work finally. Here's how:
Intent i = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
i.setDataAndType(Uri.parse("file:///sdcard/path/to/myfile.png"),
"image/png");
startActivity(i);
Why does this work? I have no idea. But, it does. The docs are not
that clear (IMO) and I gleaned this example from the Open Intents
projects.
