*Job: Sr. Backend Software Engineer* *Duration: 6-month C2H* *Location: (Remote for now) and then be in Austin TX once converted to fulltime.* *Interview: 3 interviews (Phone and Video) before an offer is made.* *VISA: Green card or Citizen only* *Responsibilities::* - Work with world-class engineers to solve challenging problems using cutting-edge technologies. - Participate in an agile environment with small, self-managed teams and a mature development process. - Lead the design of sophisticated, distributed, microservice architectures in the cloud. - Implement transactional or eventually consistent stores that provide well-encapsulated domain object semantics. - Design and build Business Intelligence and analytics capabilities to drive low-latency key performance indicators. - Architect highly scalable and crazy performant data pipelines that leverage serverless and containerized compute that balance cost, latency, and duration. - Evaluate whether existing software tools on the market can solve a business problem, or whether custom code is needed (buy vs. build). *Qualifications:* - Design and communicate external and internal architectural perspectives of well-encapsulated systems (e.g. Service Oriented Architecture, Docker-based services, micro-services) using tools such as architecture/design patterns and sequence diagrams. - Experienced designing and operating software in a cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Bring API design and data model implementation experience, including how to scale out, make highly available, or map to storage systems. - Experienced using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) with an emphasis on a well-maintained testing pyramid. - Must have experience with multiple software stacks, Python, Java (Java Virtual Machine) JVM is preferred. - Should have Minimum 7 years’ experience with ‘Big Data’ technologies such as: Kafka, AWS EMR, Apache Spark, DataFlow or Pipeline Systems, Columnar Databases, ElasticSearch, NoSql stores. - Provide strong hands-on-keyboard experience with one or more modern programming languages including a JVM language (Java, Scala, Kotlin), Python, and/or C#. Must also have a strong understanding of SQL. - Should know how to identify, select, and extend 3rd party components (commercial or open source) that provide operational leverage but does not constrain our product and engineering creativity. - Bring experience coordinating with product management to ensure dependencies can be satisfied across teams and functionality. - Nice to have experience implementing custom integrations with third party back-office solutions such as Salesforce. - Might have experience implementing custom and/or third party ETL/ELT pipelines on a managed data warehouse/analytics using technologies such as: Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Vertica, Teradata, Oracle, MapR, PostgreSQL, DBT. - Nice to have experience with Business Intelligence technologies such as: Tableau, Looker, Qlik, QuickSight.
