And at the risk of replying to myself, since other reports have come in
while I was typing my previous message, the odds of a "copy
protection"-specific problem have risen...but we still need a way to
reproduce it.

If anyone sees this problem and has some code that demonstrates it that
they are willing to release, post it here, in the bug tracker
(b.android.com), or both.
