I have also tried this with the Galaxy S3 and 4.1.1, and the Toast shows
fine.
Here's the code I used:

Toast.makeText(MainActivity.this, "The message", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {

public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
