It's too late, but it maybe useful for others so I post my solution here:

    @Override
    public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) {
        mGestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event);
        return true;
    }
 
    @Override
    public boolean onInterceptTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) {
        return mGestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event);
    }
