I've been doing this ADK stuff for a while. I kept running into the issue boards either too big or not able to supply power to my phone. I've developed a small Arduino compatible development board that I use all the time for this now. It's small and inexpensive compared to other things that are available while still offering full USB spec to my phone. If you are interested in this sort of thing, check it out.
