I have checked the MapKit API changes in iOS6 and cannot find any
substantial changes like support for vector maps etc. Apple seem to have
replaced the Google map tiles with TomTom map tiles, but only if you are
running on iOS6. Talk about fragmentation...

I am not sure if any consumer API will ever get vector maps. You can buy
commercial APIs for insane amounts of money if you want.
