just put progress bar before imageView in xml and hide the progress bar as
the image downloads
ProgressBar progressBar = (ProgressBar)
layout.findViewById(R.id.progressbar_default);
if(bitmap != null){
imageView.setImageBitmap(bitmap);
imageView.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
progressBar.setVisibility(View.GONE);
}else{
imageView.setVisibility(View.GONE);
progressBar.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
}
