Hello, I have been trying to make a nice application icon. However I'm not sure what software and techniques to use. Any pointers would be highly appreciated. So far I have been using the gimp and adobe fireworks to try and generate those 3D shiny antialiased vector looks but I'm not sure where to find a good tutorial or vector application and am not sure whether using a tablet would help. I know this forum is mainly about programming and not graphics but making a good icon is an important part of application development.
