We just disabled Google Chat/Talk for our domain so we can run our own XMPP server. Now none of our phones sync properly - cannot do email, calendar or contacts.
Spoke with Google Support who informed us that Chat is *required* for Android. My choice is now enable chat for my domain and lose compliance requirements (which will cost >$10k/yr) or switch to different devices which is a one time cost of roughly $4k.
