Just for the record in case someone else finds this message coming from Google (like I did). I had the same problem (however trying to install a different plugin) and the solution was simple: in the "Install New Software" window, uncheck the check box "Contact all update sites during install to find required software".
That check box is evil. It probably hangs on trying to reach unreachable sites.
