FOR THE ACCELEROMETER: It works as per the documentation. IOW;
* if I point the right side of the screen down, I see a positive X
value.
* if I point the earpiece down, I see a positive Y value.
* if I point the face of the display down, I see a positive Z value.
FOR THE COMPASS: I see the X and Y axes going the wrong way. IOW:
* if I point the right side of the screen to north, I see a NEGATIVE X
value.
* if I point the earpiece to north, I see a NEGATIVE Y value.
* if I point the face of the display to north, I see a positive Z
value.
This is when I can actually get the compass to report consistent
values at all... :-(
Note also that the accelerometer documentation is back to front. It
says:
Sensor values are acceleration in the X, Y and Z axis, where ...
the Z axis has positive direction toward the front of the device. The
typical case where the device is flat relative to the surface of the
Earth appears as -STANDARD_GRAVITY in the Z axis...
This is wrong, because they are really measuring the "force" of
gravity, not acceleration. A gravitational pull to -Z is actually an
acceleration to +Z.
