NEVER run things in their own process, unless they truly need to be isolated from another process. Getting the side-effect of asynchronous communication through IPC is far from a good reason to do this. Why are you wanting to run the service in another process? Why not just run all of this stuff in the same process? Then you don't need aidl at all, you can just do direct Java calls between all of your classes through whatever Java API you want, and you can introduce asynchronicity at any point through normal programming mechanisms -- threads, handlers, whatever.
