It is hard to tell what is going on without error messages. Do you
have any logcat output?
Do you see some activity on the standalone Java client? (like
"incoming connection..")
Does the connection work when you test the connection settings?

Which version of the sensor simulator have you used?
There is a newer version available in the repository:
http://code.google.com/p/openintents/source/browse/#svn/trunk/sensorsimulator
