Hi Jan,
seems like your system doesn't have any Phonon backend installed (any more). I believe you'll need to install the package "phonon4qt5-backend-vlc". (Amarok is one of the few applications using Phonon for audio playback, so it is not unexpected that you are not experiencing issues with other software's audio)

Best regards
Tuomas

Hello,

I loved Amarok 1 and Amarok 2, so I was very happy about the release
of Amarok 3, and I installed it on my Linux PC (Tuxedo OS) some month
ago. It worked a couple of months without any problems, but since some
weeks it doesn't work anymore.

Amarok starts and shows my music collection, but when I press "Play",
Amarok doesn't play the music, and the progress bar doesn't show any
progress. When I start amarok from a terminal, I get the following
messages:

I'm wondering about all the "phonon"-messages. Other media players -
e. g. "mpv" - use "pipewire" as audio output.

Distribution: TUXEDO OS (based on Ubuntu 24.04)
Linux Kernel: 6.11.0-107011-tuxedo
Amarok: 3.1.1-0zneon+24.04+noble+release+build1

qt6-phonon: 4:4.12.0-11zneon+24.04+noble+release+build3
QT and KDE frameworks: 6.8.0 (says dolphin)

T'm looking forward to your help,
best regards
