Hi Stan & All on the alsa discussion list.
/Good news,/ I figured out the problem... Looking in the Synaptic
Package Manager in the "All" mode ('unsupported by Ubuntu'), I noticed
some alsa files which were /**not**/ installed... most namely: 'alsa
firmware' & alsa-firmware loaders.' When I clicked on the 'alsa
firmware' the info window indicated that this was what loaded firmware
for Echo Audio cards (among some others)! One other file got downloaded
with these packages: 'fx load.'
I wonder why these were not included in the Echomixer (et al) drivers &
program package... I think it needs to be (novice opinion warning :) ).
Thanks so much for your consideration to help. I have not yet tested all
faculties of the drivers/card, etc. in Ubuntu, but I will in the next
few days.
Regards,
Henry
