Guys,
I hate to repost this - feel like I'm bugging y'all - but this has
really got me at a standstill. The one commercial S/W product I own
(Mathemnatica 5.2) forced me to upgrade to FC3, where I can't get midi
to record under ALSA. (Ironically, the sound is broken now in
Mathematica 5.2 under Linux (FC3), and they are not going to fix it in
this version!). At least could someone tell me whether they've heard of
this problem or not?
I am running FC3, alsa 1.0.10 with an Audigy 2 Platinum. Previously I
had been able to both play my midi keyboard and record from it using
Rosegarden, earlier versions of alsa and RedHat 9. Now I can only play
the keyboard - record doesn't work. Taking Rosegarden out of the
equation, I used both JACK and aconnect to connect (see below) 64:32
directly to 65:0 and I get nothing playing the keyboard. Playing, e.g.,
pmidi -p 64:32 PeterGunn.mid or
pmidi -p 65:0 PeterGunn.mid
works just fine. So it seems just the 64:32 read port is not working.
Anyone have any ideas or see this before?
Also, since I can't seem to get udev working right, I have to run the
snddevices script manually after booting, so I should have all the right
device nodes right? I think I have all the right modules loaded (see
below).
thanks a bunch,
Brian
