Hi! I'm still (kernel 2.6.5, alsa current cvs) having this problem with my SB Live: the ac97-codec module complains about "AC'97 0 does not respond - RESET", "AC'97 0 access is not valid [0x0], removing mixer.", and the card is not recognized (error -5). Searching the archives produced several occurrences of this problem, but I was unable to find any answer...
The only hint I saw was about shared interrupts, but my card (now) has one all it's own, and it didn't change anything. My mainboard is a Tyan Tiger MPX (S2466). The other mentions of this error message all were with quite different hardware, and somebody did claim that Tiger MPX + SB did work for him, so this should not be directly hardware related? gcc is 3.3.1, binutils 2.14 What am I doing wrong?
