Hi,
I've just bought a HP pavilion zx5051EA (laptop).
I installed Fedora Core 1 with no problems but then I couldn't get my
sound device to be detected. After having googled myself to death I
finally managed to get it working with the alsa package.
My sound card is a:
00:14.5 Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc SoundMAX
Integrated Digital Audio (according to 'lspci')
The only way I got the system to recognise the card was through
'sndconfig' tool. It now loads fine:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [IXP ]: ATIIXP - ATI IXP
ATI IXP rev 0 at 0xe8003000, irq 10
and:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/info
card: 0
device: 0
subdevice: 0
stream: PLAYBACK
id: ATI IXP AC97
name: ATI IXP AC97
subname: subdevice #0
class: 0
subclass: 0
subdevices_count: 1
subdevices_avail: 1
The system works fine but I'd like to have acpi running so that my
battery status applet would run on gnome (I have gnome running).
If I include 'acpi=force' in grub.conf my system hangs when, while
loading the panel, it tries to load the volume control applet. The only
way to recover the system is by pressing the laptop 'off' button for a
while and then, editing the boot script and remove the 'acpi=force'
reference.
Is there any way I can have acpi running?
