Hi!
I had the same problem. You need to install your kernel sources (from your
mandrake cds). Then you should look if you can find a configuration for your
kernel. I'm using suse and there they are in /boot. There is something like
vmlinuz.config. I usually copy that to /usr/src/liux/.config. I think on your
system that would be /usr/linux/.config. If you can't find it ask again on
this list (there are people running mandrake :-)).
If you can find it configure you kernel with make dep (I think!). Then try
your alsa again. If this seems to complicated (which it can REALLY be) then
try to find an rpm.
