I have 2 boxes both running Debian.
Box 1 is a 1.2GHz Athlon and has: Woody (+ a few extras) with kernel
2.4.19, with a fairly recent ALSA CVS build. The sound card there is a
Midiman Audiophile (ice1712)
Box 2 is an old PII 333MHz with Sid and 2.4.18, a slightly less recent
ALSA build (still post rc3 though). That machine has a Hoontech 4DWave
(trident).
Both have functionally identical /etc/modutils/alsasound files (for those
unfamiliar with Debian, anything in /etc/modutils is contatenated to make
/etc/modules.conf), only the sound driver chosen and comments differ.
However on the PII box, the oss modules do not autoload, but on the Athlon
they do (and always have done). modprobing the oss modules loads them no
problem and then they work just fine.
Wierd -- any ideas where I should look to find what I've screwed up?
TIA
James
