sir,
i am rajasekhar, studing mca 5th sem in ignou
university from INDIA.i buyed a pc in 1999
december.from
then i used win98 only.6 months before i got
redhatlinux7.1 which is given by pcquest book. i
installed linux
and from then onwards i am using it.but the problem is
sound card by sound card is detectd by "sndconfig" and
it gave this information: fortmedia, incl Xwave3000A
fm801.and told that the drivers are found in
"alsa-project.org".

sir in etc\module.conf i placed this information:
alias pcisound
options io=0xE400-0XE47F irq=10

it has recognised and found the pci sound card.but
the sound is not playing and when i "poweroff" it says
that

" saving mixer settings"
"ERROR: modprobe:cannot find sound-slot-0"note:
/etc/module.conf is earlier than
/lib/modules/2.4.2-2/modules.dep
"ERROR: modprobe:cannot find sound-service-0-0"

i tried my level best by reading all man pages
related to sound.but i could not make sound so i went
and down
 loaded the alsa-drivers:alsa-driver-0.5.12a.tar.bz2
and extracted to a directory. from then onwards i
could not
find how to install the drivers.i read
alsa-mini-howto and even then i could not do it. i am
very happy to see
the source (fm801.c)for my soundcard. i congragulate
for the developer and for the mainter(you) for the
success
 they made.

sir if i can play the sound in linux then i will
permanently remove win98,win2000 from my system(i had
3 os's
with lilo loaded) because i am so much interesed in
linux.

sir can u please help me how to compile the fm801.c
file or can u tell me from where can i get the fm801.o file.
