Hello, my name is Werner, and i have the following problem:

Im a Newbie and did an update on my SuSE Linux7.3 from Kernel 2.4.10-4GB to 2.4.17 (from www.kernel.org) - everything worked fine. Only my Soundcard didnt work neither under 2.4.10 nor under 2.4.17. So i did an upgrade to ALSA 0.5.12a and followed the instructions how to install for the via686a-chip. I extracted the drivers, ran ./configure and then make. I received a message The ALSA Drivers were compiled successfully. But when running make install aftera while there are messages unresolved symbol........for almost any supported soundcard. When running ./snddevices anything seems to be OK - but when booting again there are some error messages:

/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd.o: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_dsp_Rcd03b10
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd.o: unresolved symbol register_sound_dsp_R00445fc8
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd.o: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_special_R99c95fa5
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd.o: unresolved symbol register_sound_special_Rdd4ffffd
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc/snd.o: insmod snd-card-via686a failed

Do you know what i can do do get my soundcard working? Im starting the drivers automatically in the /etc/modules.conf.

C U Werner
