Uhhmm, are you running the kernel that came with your distro? If so you
must install the kernel source and headers for that (patched) kernel.
There is/are rpm's for that on your distro's CD's. Use 'uname -r' to check
what kernel you're running, that might help to see what RPM's to install.
Btw, I think with RH7.1 there is one rpm which installs both kernel source 
and headers in a place ALSA knows about. Oh, and (also) reply to the list,
someone else may be able to help you :)
