Brandon,

There is a script included in the alsa-driver source called "alsasound" I
believe. Copy that to /etc/init.d then put in symbolic links to add it
under rc3.d and rc5.d and rc6.d . The scripts linked there are evaluated
in alphabetical order, so place it towrds the end and you'll be OK... 

This is from my memory and I'm a Debian user, but when I last used
Mandrake (6.0!) the same init script ssytem was used.
