No it's a well recognized kind of muddiness that seems to be associated with the characteristic of the beta when used in the female's higher range. For instance when I do Robbin and Linda Williams they specifically request the beta 58 . but other women with higher voices ask me to dig out the older version of the 58. And you can really hear the difference in a live show just try it.
