Stefano, the cap is tight but keep tapping around the circumference with
hammer and screwdriver and it'll start moving.
I should have mentioned this earlier, but if your axles are off the car
and
though the boots might have cracks - but are not split - then remove the
old
boot by cutting it off and slide the new one from the 'other' end. Grease
the
shaft since it'll be tight.
Yes, always nice to replace the grease, but if no dirt has gotten in, the
grease will be fine.
Getting the ball bearings back in - at least for me - is a major pita. You
think you've just about got it and one, or more, fall out. Hmmm. if one
magnetized the ball bearings, they might stay in place better...or not.
I just checked the parts book and it is a bit hard to tell for sure but I
believe the large washer goes on the bottom since there is a built in
washer
on top.

If I remember correctly you have to remove the domed cap that fits over
the
end of the cv joint to seal in the grease.
Thanks Obie:
Any idea how to remove that cap? I'm looking at it and tapping on the
edges somewhat,
but it doesn't seem to come off.

I believe I just used a hammer and a screwdriver to gently tap around the
edges and pop them free. I think they are a pretty snug fit and old
grease,
dirt and time conspire to glue them on.

Looking for a used 1982 GTV6 windshield. Anyone know where one might be
sitting to be parted out?
Thanks, Wayne

After more careful looking, I think it's a 1750 GTV grille.
