I certainly agree that where we are now is good, and the progress made in
this way for this bug is good.

However I stress that this current solution by itself is not enough.
Violating clipart is violating clipart. If it violates copyright we need to
remove it, not just hide it. I currently hide it so that the authors receive
the notification of why it was hidden. After a few weeks or months, i go
through and clear out (as in delete) the hidden clipart - especially if they
haven't done anything to fix the problem.

The trust that OCAL has freely and commercially available public domain
clipart, is far too valuable to allow violating clipart to be accessed from
any aspect of OCAL, in the public eye or not. If you can "get" it from OCAL,
in my humble (but very strong) opinion, there should be no doubt as to it
being Public Domain.

Of course the *responsibility to check *is *always *on the end-user, but we
can certainly make things so much easier for them.

----

As for the sysgod/regularuser/anonymous/librarian widget permissions issue,
you know that you can put sys/librarian permissioned widgets inside public
widgets and the public cannot see the sys god widgets? So, we don't
necessarily need duplicate pages or widgets to display different things,
just add the things that sys/libs need to do their jobs, INSIDE the public
widgets. It's simple, it works, it's safe.

If you do not have the associated permissions, (and teh widget has correct
permissions set) it is physically impossible to access the sysgod items. It
doesn't even show up in the source html!! Most people will not be aware of
the things that libs and sysgods can do in teh background and that is how it
should be.

I think it is unhelpful practise to disallow librarians to see hidden
clipart.
