Speaking to reporters, president of the association, Elkin Rynniaw said, “The society often looks down upon us by calling us blind, deaf which affects us psychologically. According to us, to call us differently abled is disrespectful to us.” He added that it affects their mentality which often discourages them to pursue further education and other works as the word “differently disabled” is synonymous to being called “unintelligent”.
