Dear Friends We are delighted to share that India’s first lifestyle app- BillionAbles which aims to serve as an access guide to persons with disabilities has been launched and is now available on Google Playstore. The idea is to act as a facilitator in paving the way for an independent and dignified social life for the disabled community.
*The app lists more than a 1,000 disabled friendly places across India with over 150 verified listings from Delhi-NCR, Goa and Rajasthan.* It lists disabled friendly venues and services under categories such as Accessible Restaurants & Hotels, Accessible Shops & Malls, Accessible Entertainment Joints, Wellness, Disability Events, Public transport, Accessible tours, Accessible cabs, Accessible Washrooms, Disabled Parking spaces, etc. The app offers filter-based searches as well. People can look for places based on accessibility of ramps, lifts, elevators, step free access, braille and signage, sign language availability, gluten free food, eating aids, assistance available, large print, and more. The results are displayed as a list as well as in Map View. *USP of BillionAbles app include the ability to increase or decrease the font size of text, change app’s contrast colour, text-to-speech, and speech-to-text options. The app is endowed with in-app navigation and quick calling features as well.* Users can share their experiences by rating and reviewing the listings via the rate and review feature. After each rate and review, the user’s account will get credited with reward points, given as a token of appreciation. Important thing to note is that these points are redeemable at selected accessible merchant outlets, thus users get gratified for each rating- reviewing activity on the app. *The icing on the cake is that this is a crowd sourced app, which means the users can submit the listings (places, services and products found useful for persons with disabilities) on the app in real time and in return they receive reward points for every listing they submit on the app.*Therefore, the power of this crowd sourced platform, the BillionAbles App, lays in the hands of its users i.e. YOU!
