Years ago I had someone send me a demo unit of a ONT/router battery
backup that just used 8 D-Cell Alkaline batteries. Up to the customer
to replace them when they go bad or are depleted by an outage. Didn't
seem like a terrible idea if you "had to offer a backup power
solution"
