The Conference season is upon us again. I normally consider the MySQL Users Conference the my first show of the year (my calender is based on Bay Area confs only).
Where are we at on a variety of the upcoming events? I'll take them one by one to make it easy to reply to: MySQL Users Conference: This is next month, I'm a speaker this year actually. For the last 2-3 years I've been in the booth and hope to be again this year talking about the joys of MySQL & Co. on OpenSolaris. I need to get in touch with the booth crew and coordinate this years actives. CommunityOne: The call for papers went out, but I didn't see anyone pick up the ball on organizing for the show. Perhaps this happened and I just missed it all. Will OpenSolaris have representation this year? Who's leading that effort? JavaOne: Like MySQL I've been in the booth for the last couple years showing off OpenSolaris and plan to again this year. Each year there has been more OpenSolaris representation and I'm curious to know whats on the lineup this year. LinuxWorld: This normally marks the end of the conference season, but getting a booth can be rough if we wait to long. Yet again I'd like to have a presence in the .Org pavilion if SMI isn't present. Any other interest is welcome. OSCON: Again, this is a ways out, but good to coordinate on early. Any brewings yet? Web2.0: I'm not planning anything for this event. Typically a snooty managerial crowd not well suited to meaty topics, and thus off my radar. If anyone wants to organize something I'll assist and participate. Velocity2.0: This is a (to my knowledge) new conference happening in the Bay Area (http://en.oreilly.com/velocity2008/public/content/home). This is the Web Performance and Operations Conference, and we ABSOLUTELY MUST BE THERE! No one can corner that conference like OpenSolaris can. I'm happy to bring in Joyent resources given that this is our bread and butter and its all happening on OpenSolaris. If something is lined up, I want to get the skinny ASAP, if its not on our radar we need to organize something pronto. I'm forgetting a couple I'm sure. Debatable shows include almost any of the database shows, including OracleWorld, etc. Feel free to comment on any of the above shows. Lets get sync'ed up and organized for the upcoming shows! We've got more to talk about every day. Viva OpenSolaris!! benr. Disclaimer: All references to "OpenSolaris" regard the OpenSolaris Community and Project, not Indiana directly or indirectly.
