Vodafone Spain launches Vodafone Speak powered by Code Factory
The First Mobile Screen Reader that can be Downloaded by SMS
Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, December 22, 2008

Vodafone Spain launches Vodafone Speak, an application allowing people with
restricted sight to hear everything that appears on the screen of their mobile
by means of a voice synthesiser.

With Vodafone Speak, visually impaired people can make and receive phone calls,
send and receive text messages, access call logs, manage contacts, set alarms,
create calendar entries, browse the Internet, listen to audio files, connect to
other devices via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or infrared systems, and much more.

Vodafone Spain has been working for many years to provide accessible solutions
for customers with special needs, like those who are elderly, deaf, or blind or
visually impaired. Vodafone Speak is the first accessible solution which is as
easy to obtain as any of Vodafone's mainstream products and services, thanks to
its "over-the-air" installation.

Spanish Vodafone clients only have to send a keyword by SMS to a short phone
number to receive a free SMS reply containing a link to automatically download
and install Vodafone Speak on their compatible mobile phone. Vodafone Speak
then works for 30 days free of charge, after which users are asked each month
to pay and renew their subscription for 30 additional days, with the cost
charged directly to their Vodafone phone bill.

José Manuel Azorín, Marketing Director of Social Products for Vodafone Spain,
points out that, "With Vodafone Speak we want to provide a higher level of
independence to people with restricted sight. So Vodafone is the first operator
to roll out a monthly micropayment plan to make the application accessible for
those groups who need it most, at both a technical and financial level".

This revolutionary product is the result of a close collaboration between Code
Factory, who developed Vodafone Speak based on Mobile Speak technology; Nokia,
who gave access to its Nokia High Quality built-in Text-to-Speech which gives
voice to Vodafone Speak; ONCE, the Spanish National Organization for the Blind,
who gives technical support to end-users; and Vodafone Spain, who leads the
entire project and makes Vodafone Speak information available through its
nationwide network of shops.

Vodafone Speak is compatible with Vodafone Symbian S60 Nokia mobile phones such
as Nokia E51, Nokia E65, Nokia E66, Nokia E71, Nokia N81, Nokia E90
Communicator, Nokia 6110 Navigator, Nokia 6120 Classic and Nokia 6124.
