Dear WhatsApp Accessibility Team,
I am writing to report two significant accessibility bugs I have encountered while using the WhatsApp iOS application. These issues negatively impact the user experience for individuals who rely on screen readers. I have been using an iPhone 12 with iOS 26 to identify these problems. The first issue, which is related to the message actions menu, has already been documented and discussed by the community. You can find a detailed description and user reports at the following link: https://www.applevis.com/bugs/ios/whatsapp-message-actions-menu-which-includ es-reactions-disappears-you-can-interact-it-if#comment-196154 The second issue I have identified relates to the inconsistent state reporting of action buttons within the app. I have observed this bug in multiple areas: Bug 1: Dimmed/Disabled State in Chat Selection Menu Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the WhatsApp application and navigate to the chats list. 2. From the list select the chat messages you want to delete. 3. Now towards the bottom of the chats list there should be action buttons to archive, reply and delete. Expected Behavior: The buttons should be read by a screen reader as enabled and actionable, as they are not actually disabled. Actual Behavior: The screen reader (I am using VoiceOver) reads the buttons as "dimmed," indicating they are disabled, even though they are fully functional. Bug 2: Dimmed/Disabled State in Image/Video Sharing Menu Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a chat and select an image or video to view it full-screen. Expected Behavior: The sharing options should be read as enabled. Actual Behavior: The screen reader reads these options as "dimmed" or disabled, causing confusion and difficulty for users trying to share content. Both of these bugs create a misleading user experience and can hinder the ability of a user with a visual impairment to use the application efficiently. I would be happy to provide additional information or assist with further testing if needed. Thank you for your attention to these important matters. -- Disclaimer: 1.
