Dear Prashant,
Thank you for sharing the "Draft Non-Negotiable Rules for Products for Persons with Disabilities" with us. I've reviewed it and wanted to share my thoughts and suggestions. I apologize for not being able to provide feedback directly on the requested portal due to my current workload. However, I have reviewed the document and wanted to share my thoughts and suggestions with you. The draft is a commendable and comprehensive effort, providing a strong foundation for creating a barrier-free environment. To further enhance the document, I believe the following points could be considered: Strengthened Enforcement: Implement independent, third-party audits and a clear consumer grievance redressal mechanism with defined timelines for action. Incentives and Awareness: Propose a "Certified Accessible" label and government procurement preferences to incentivize manufacturers to go beyond mandatory requirements. Enhanced Technical Guidance: Include more specific technical specifications for various products and incorporate user personas and real-world use cases to guide manufacturers more effectively. Adaptation for Emerging Technologies: Explicitly address the accessibility requirements for IoT devices, smart home appliances, and digital interfaces embedded within physical products. Continuous Improvement: Include a provision for a regular review and update of the standards to keep pace with technological advancements and evolving user needs. These additions would help make the standards more robust, practical, and effective in their implementation.
