Venu Institute of Universal Education
The Venu Institute of Universal Education is a unit of the Venu Charitable
Society, attached to the Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre and affiliated
with Jamia Hamdard University as an off-campus facility. The Institute offers a
one year Diploma programme on New Economy Skills, designed for the benefit of
visually challenged students. The objective of the Diploma programme is to
impart training in New Economy Skills to enable them to pursue suitable careers
in this new world economy.
Students who have completed Senior Secondary School education (10+2) and
graduate students are eligible for admission. The course begins in July and the
last date for submission of application forms for admission is mid March to
first week of April 2008.
Course Modules
There are six course modules, namely, Information Technology (Basic in
Computers), English Language and Communication, Personality Development,
General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Soft Skills and Mathematics and Logical
Reasoning.
Fee Structure
The fee structure is very nominal, approximately it will be Rs. 650/- per
month. We do have special consideration for students from very weak financial
background. Fees can be paid in installments after discussing with the Head of
the Institute.
Faculty
The institute has a faculty comprising experienced educationists to provide
instructions and practical experience in Information Technology, Language and
Communication, Soft Skills, General Knowledge, Mathematics and Logical
Reasoning and other related fields. Eminent experts with experience in dealing
with visually impaired students are invited as visiting faculty We have experts
for career guidance and counseling as well.
Achievement
All the 6 students of first batch in 2005 has been suitably placed as Computer
Instructors, Telephone Operators and Medical Transcriptionists etc. 70% of the
second batch of the students are also suitably placed.
Career Prospectus
The Diploma in New Economy Skills will qualify students for employment in Call
Centres, Telemarketing jobs, audio-video related occupations, computer
teachers, Telephone operators, secretarial work and IT related jobs in
corporate offices and other organizations as well as Medical Transcription.
Hostel Accommodation
The Institute takes the responsibility of the students to find suitable
accommodation close to the institute.
Placement Service
On completion of the course, students may seek help of placement services
available at the institute.
Extra Curricular Activities
Students are exposed to various extra curricular activities like:
1.. Visit to important places in Delhi and around Delhi.
2.. Educational trips to outside Delhi like Agra, Jaipur etc.
3.. Free time, provision to play games.
4.. Teaching talent related activities like Simple Cooking, Paper recycling
(making new paper from waste paper).
Note : - Girl students who are interested in doing the course will be given
special
consideration.
