I'm working a bit with go1.24 on plan 9, and I'm finding it very usable. One thing that's nice -- we now have more than one option for git, should there be a problem with the 9front git. 9front git is still always my first choice, but we have seen occasional issues because github.com does not quite follow the rules around https;
The Go module stuff is quite smooth, downloading what's needed with no issues. I just yesterday did gogit clone https://github.com/golang/tools which worked fine; and the tools build. I also built u-root, but somebody broke #! support in u-root, so I'm off to fix that. So, notwithstanding that Plan 9 C can frequently produce faster programs than Go :-), at the same time, it's useful (for me) to have Go around. I've built this Go from scratch, using the Plan 9 bootstrap (thanks David!); if you have questions, let me know. thanks ------------------------------------------ 9fans: 9fans Permalink: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/Tffed1c06a072f3b0-M6e1ec5e7ab1bf8a288bf389d Delivery options: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/subscription
