The one written by CMU students has been tested on a bunch of Intel hardware and knows how to work around busted motherboards which don't clock samples at the right rate (apparently this was popular at some point). The other one has better code quality, and will try to run on more chips, but it's not clear how many of them it has been tested on. If somebody has time to do a merge, that would be great. I still have handy one of the machines with busted clocking. Dave Eckhardt
